중도·중복장애학생 진로·직업교육의 실제와 지원 방안에 대한 특수학교 교사의 경험과 인식

Special School Teachers’ Experiences and Perceptions on Current Status and Support Ways of Career and Vocational Education for Students with Severe and Multiple Disabilities

연구목적: 본 연구는 중도·중복장애학생의 진로 및 직업교육에 대한 특수학교 교사의 경험 및 인식에 대해 살펴보았다. 연구방법: 중도·중복장애학생의 진로·직업교육을 담당한 경험이 있거나 담당하고 있는 특수학교 교사 8명이 참여하였으며, 포커스 그룹 인터뷰(Focus Group Interview: FGI)를 수행하였다. FGI는 1회당 3시간 정도가 소요되었으며, 총 5회에 걸쳐 실시되었다. 연구결과: 본 연구를 통해 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교사들은 현재 학교에서 이루어지는 진로·직업교육은 취업을 성과로 측정함으로써 경도장애학생이 중심이 되고, 진로·직업교육이 유행처럼 획일적으로 이루어지고 있으며, 진로·직업교육에 대한 전문성 있는 교사가 부족하다는 문제를 지적하였다. 또한, 교사들은 중도·중복장애학생의 진로·직업교육과 관련된 문제점으로, 중도·중복장애학생의 전공과 진학과 보호작업장의 취업에 대한 문제점을 지적하였다. 둘째, 교사들은 중도·중복장애학생의 진로·직업교육을 개선하고 강화하기 위해서는 학교 교육 자체가 전반적으로 변화되어야 한다고 인식하고 있었다. 결론: 교사들은 중도·중복장애학생의 진로·직업교육을 강화하기 위해서 교사의 변화, 학교 환경의 변화, 가정의 변화, 그리고 지역사회의 변화가 함께 요구된다고 하였다.

Purpose: This study investigated the experiences and perception of special school teachers concerning career and vocational education for students with severe and multiple disabilities. Method: Eight special school teachers participated in the Focus Group Interview(FGI). FGI was implemented with 5 times, and it took around 3 hours per each time. Results: The results of the study were as follow. First, current status of career and vocational education in special schools focused on students with mild disabilities due to the employment performance. As well, the participants pointed out the problem of sheltered employment for students with severe and multiple disabilities. Second, the participants recognized that the school education system itself should be changed in order to enhance the career and vocational education for students with severe and multiple disabilities. Conclusion: The change of special teachers, school environment, family life, and community is required to strengthen career and vocational education for students with severe and multiple disabilities.
