According to the language production model of Bock and Levelt(1994), language production processing consists of four levels: the message level, the functional level, the positional level, and the phonological level. Grammatical encoding is involved at the functional level and the positional level. A number of studies have shown empirical evidence that grammatical encoding occurs independently from the message level. During the grammatical encoding processing, function assignment is followed by constituent assembly in the positional level. The purpose of study is to investigate whether priming effect would occur in the order of constituent between causative structure and dative structure in Korean. The priming effects have been observed between [eykey -(l)ul] constituents and [(l)ul-eykey] constituents between dative structure and causative structure in the study. Therefore, the results have provided the further empirical evidence regarding the fact that constituent assembly occurs at the separate stage from the function assignment in the syntactic representation during language production.
