중도·중복장애아동의 의사소통 경험양식에 관한 현상학적 연구

Phenomenological Approach on Patterns of Experience Communications with Children with Multiple and Severe disabilities-Attempt of Conversations with Body contacts

본 연구는 현상학적 방법론에 입각하여 중도·중복장애아동의 의사소통 경험의 본질적 의미를 이해함으로서 중도·중복장애아동의 의사소통 경험양식을 해명하는 것을 그 목적으로 하였다. K장애인 전담 어린이집 24시간 보육시설에서 생활하고 있는 중도·중복장애를 가진 남자아동 2명을 연구 대상으로 하였고, 자료 수집은 2007년 1월 3일부터 3월 2일까지 약 2개월 이상 총 50회기에 걸쳐서 행해졌으며 주된 자료수집 방법은 참여관찰이었다. 이상의 방법으로 연구를 진행한 결과, 다음의 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 첫째, 대상아동들은 자신의 신체를 매개로 한 자기자극 및 상동행동을 통해 세계와 관계함을 알 수 있었다. 이것은 자신의 살아오면서 경험하고 획득한 자신만의 방식으로 세계와 끊임없이 관계하고자 노력하는 행위로 해석할 수 있을 것이다. 둘째, 대상아동들은 타자라는 존재 및 그들과의 적절한 의사소통 방식을 경험하지 못한 까닭에 자신의 신체를 매개로 하여 자기자극 및 상동행동과 같은 의사소통 형태만을 사용할 수 밖에 없었다. 자신에게 이미 내재되어 있었으나 가르쳐주지 않았기에 혹은 반응하는 사람이 없었기에 사용할 수 없었던 신체접촉의 언어를 통한 대화 속에서 대상아동들의 의사소통 경험양식과 실존을 파악할 수 있었고, 중도·중복장애아동의 자기결정력에 기초한 동등한 관계, 즉, 진정한 의미에서 그들과의 의사소통을 경험할 수 있었다.

This study was focused on education for children with multiple and severe disabilities from view point of Phenomenology. Communication is very important not only for normal children but also children with multiple and severe disabilities. However, these children can not show overt behavior and verbal communication. This study was carried out by Phenomenological approach. Because it is very difficult to measure their behavior to organize educational approach. In this study, it was clarified that educational approach through communication with these children should be organized depending upon Educator s the subjectivity , also it was accepted even so-called abnormal behavior such as repeated behavior or self-injured behavior for communication. It was understood that general phenomenological explanations were formed by the means of the physical contact which we can see through a spoken language or a writing language. Then, through this study on communication with children with multiple and severe disabilities can help to understand the basic structure of our communication style.
