The purpose of this study is to find out the locomotion capability and performance(of mobility) in children with cerebral palsy(CP). Mobility is needed to perform the activity of daily living and to participate in society, but most of the children with CP have difficulty in mobility and limitation of activity. Therefore, not only the child himself but also the parents and therapist have a big concern in improvement of mobility. But clinically, as the medical treatment and assessment are performed in a well controlled environment, there could be differences between motor capability and mobility or activities of daily living in every day settings. The subjects of this study were 205 children with CP, ages 6~14. GMFCS, questionnaire on children s usual mobility methods were used to measure the children s gross motor capability and performance of mobility. Cochran Q test was used for the study of relation between gross motor capability and performance of mobility across the everyday settings. Differences in mobility methods across the everyday settings of children in GMFCS level Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳ institution and at home were observed in the study about the effect of environment on the mobility method of children with CP children used lower ranked mobility methods at school than at home. The lowest ranked mobility methods were used in outdoors/community. Therefore, this study suggests that the evaluation of the children with CP should be conducted both in locomotion capability and performance(of mobility), and the evaluation should be conducted by their environmental settings.
