In this paper, we explore the nature of locative inversion constructions in English within the minimalist framework and attempt to derive the nature of the construction adopting the notion of syntactic domain of focus proposed by Lee (2004) and Lee and Kwon (2006). As for the locality restrictions on the movement of the locative PP across the theme DP, we show that the movement of the locative PP obviates the locality restrictions by using the notion of Phase Extension proposed by Den Dikken (2006b).
