The present study proposes an alternative pedagogical grammar adequate to EFL environment from a skill acquisition perspective. Although the current National Curriculum advocates the CLT, the students English proficiency does not meet the social demand for a skilled English user. To cope with this practical issues, the model consists of three principal dimensions, perspective, content, and method, each of which is adopted from different approaches to grammar instruction. As a crux of new model, the term grammaring is adopted from Larsen-Freeman (2003) to reflect not only a dynamic view of grammar but also the dynamic process of its development. Accordingly, lexical phrases are presented as grammar content and output practice is recommended as a suitable method from a skill acquisition point of view. Output practice is composed of three types, frequency-based, meaning-focused and context-based ones. Two textbooks for high school students are examined and modified to the proposed model of grammar teaching.
