The primary purpose of this paper is to descriptively analyze the syntactic aspects of the Middle English version of The Tale of Apollonius of Tyre based on John Gower s Confessio Amantis, Vol. I Book 8 (lines 271-2008), edited by Russel A. Peck (2006). The discussion on the textual history and the style of this work is excluded here, and so is the question as to the dialect used in it. The main concerns of this paper are focused on the description of syntactic structures, such as NP, VP, and PrepP, and some syntactic aspects are also discussed on passive, tense, extraposition, etc.
