In this article I will propose that a syntactic position can be parameterized with respect to A- and A-bar status. Specifically, I mainly focus on a SpecvP position, and propose Outer and Inner SpecvP Parameters whereby an inner SpecvP serves as A-position and an outer SpecvP as A-bar position. One of the important consequences is that this eliminates a mixed position with respect to A- and A-bar status in the grammar. A range of empirical data to support the Parameters are presented from typologically unrelated two languages such as English and Icelandic.
