The main purpose of this paper is to propose an analysis for the so-called split subject constructions suggested in Jespersen (1924). In the traditional transformational grammar the split subjects have been assumed to be a raising construction since the inspiring work of Postal (1974). We try to show how to do without the notion of raising, a sort of movement which results in the semantic dualism. We argue that the notion of OCC(urrence) and the principle of The Most Specified Survival ensure the concatenation of the so-called subject-to-subject raising constructions.
