한글이름 로마자 표기에 관한 제언

The purpose of this paper is to put forward a suggestion of how to write Hangeul personal names with Roman letters based on English which is regarded as an international and global language throughout the world in the 21st century. This is a subsequent research of how to write Korean family names(B.S. Yaang 2002) and Sino-Korean personal names with Roman letters(B.S. Yaang 2003a), which argued that Korean family and Sino-Korean names should be written in the way that English mono-syllabic words are pronounced and spelled. This paper proposes that Korean Romanization should be not sound-by-sound, but syllable-based Englishization, and suggests the principle of Korean Romanization for personal names and how to write 547 syllables which are used in Hangeul personal names with English alphabets.
