신라시대 漢山州에 대하여

A Study on the Hansanjoo(漢山州) in Silla

The Silla Kingdom divided its territory into 9 provinces(州) to rule the country effectively. One of them was Hansanjoo, located nearby the Han River. However, the Silla kingdom occupied the area of Hansanjoo a long time ago and named it Sinjoo(新州) at first. Then, the Silla kingdom made a great progress by exploiting this area. The Silla kingdom conquered the Baekje(百濟) as well as the Koguryo(高句麗) kingdom, expelled the Tang army and finally established Hansanjoo. Therefore, it can be assumed that Hansanjoo was highly related to the rise and fall of the Silla kiingdom. This study deals with the establishment of Hansanjoo and the history of it. It is composed of three following parts. First, the process of establishing Hansanjoo. Second, the boundary and the ruling system. Third, the history of transition and the conquest of northern area of the Silla kingdom. In the whole context, the reality of Hansanjoo and the historical meaning of it are reviewed.
