대학생의 내재적⋅외재적 전공선택동기와 진로결정수준의 관계

The relationship of intrinsic and extrinsic major selection motivation to career decision level among college students: The mediating role of emotional and personality career difficulties

목적 본 연구에서는 대학생의 전공선택동기와 정서 및 성격 관련 진로문제가 진로결정수준에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 하였고, 전공선택동기를 내재적 전공선택동기와 외재적 전공선택동기로 세분화하여 각각의 매개모형을 검증하였다. 방법 이를 위해 서울지역 4년제 대학생 450명을 대상으로 설문을 실시했었다. 수집된 자료는 주요 변인의 기술통계 분석과 상관분석을 실시한 후, 구조방정식을 활용하여 변인들 간의 구조모형을 분석하였으며, 부트스트래핑을 통해 매개효과를 검증하였다. 결과 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 정서 및 성격 관련 진로문제는 내재적 전공선택동기와 진로결정수준의 관계를 완전 매개하였다. 둘째, 정서 및 성격 관련 진로문제는 외재적 전공선택동기와 진로결정수준에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤지만, 외재적 전공선택동기와 진로결정수준의 관계를 매개하지 않았다. 결론 이러한 연구결과를 바탕으로 내재적 전공선택동기 및 외재적 전공선택동기와 진로결정수준의 관계를 정서 및 성격 관련 진로문제가 매개하는지를 살펴보았다는 데 본 연구의 의의가 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 시사점과 제한점을 논의하였다.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of selection motivation and emotional and personality career difficulties on career decision level among college students, and test the mediating effects of emotional and personality career difficulties on intrinsic major selection motivation versus extrinsic major selection motivation. Methods The surveys were conducted on undergraduate students. The data of 450 college students were analyzed. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and structural equation analysis were utilized. Th bootstrapping test was performed to test the mediation effects. Results The main results included: First, emotional and personality career difficulties fully mediated the relationship between intrinsic major selection motivation and career decision level. Second, emotional and personality career difficulties did not mediate the relationship between extrinsic major selection motivation and career decision level, while extrinsic major selection motivation and emotional and personality career difficulties did significantly affect career decision level. Conclusions This study sought to elaborate the mediating role of emotional and personality career difficulties in the relationship of major selection motivation to career decision level. Implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
