한국에서의 임진왜란 연구 동향과 문물 사료

Korea’s Research Tends and Historical Artifacts and Literature Resources on Imjin War (壬辰倭亂)

본 논고는 한국에서의 임진왜란 연구 동향과 문물 사료를 중국학계에 소개하는데 중점을 두었다. 한국에서 가장 널리 사용하고 있는 용어는 임진왜란이다. 임진왜란 용어는 전란 당시부터 사용될 정도로 출현시기가 빨랐고, 이후 지속적으로 널리 사용되어 다른 용어에 비해 보편성을 띠고 있다. 북한에서는 임진조국전쟁으로 부르고 있다. 임진왜란이 발발한 지 4백여 년이 지난 오늘날에도 임진왜란에 대한 관심도가 여전히 아주 높다. 한국인들은 임진왜란을 국난극복의 교훈과 동아시아 평화구현의 역사로 꼽고 있다. 한국에는 임진왜란 문물 사료들이 많이 남아있고, 선행학자들의 연구 성과물도 아주 많이 나와 한마디로 열풍 그 자체이다. 매년 여러 기관이나 민간단체들이 임진왜란 관련 행사를 펼치고 있다. 동아시아 삼국 모두 임진왜란 문물 사료들을 많이 가지고 있는데, 그 중에서 좋은 제1차 문물 사료를 가장 많이 소유한 국가는 한국이다. 앞으로 동아시아 삼국의 문물사료들을 종합하여 상호 비교하면 임진왜란에 대한 실체가 좀더 정확하게 밝혀질 것으로 믿어진다.

This study is to focus on introducing Korea’s research tends and historical artifacts and literature resources on Imjin War to Chinese academia. The term, ‘Imjin War(壬辰倭亂)’ has been mostly used in Korea. Its emergence and usage occurred at the time of the war and remained popular throughout the Joseon Dynasty. In North Korea, it is called, ‘Imjin Liberation War(壬辰祖國戰爭)’. It has been over 400 years since the outbreak, yet today’s people still pay attention to the war, which is high: Koreans take a lesson from it for overcoming a national crisis and regard it as a historical implementation of East Asia peace. A number of Imjin War’s historical artifacts and literature resources are available in Korea, and also a number of relevant prior studies and research outcomes have been produced, which is evidence of Korea’s ongoing engagement with it. In addition, diverse institutions and civil groups have organized Imjin War related events and activities on a regular basis. The three East Asian countries Korea, Japan, and China hold a number of Imjin War related resources, yet, of the three, Korea is the country which holds the most primary resources. In this context, it is believed that we are able to get closer to the truth if the resources from all the three countries are comparatively and holistically analyzed.
