Sexual victimization of men

이 연구는 일반 남성과 군대 내 남성에 대한 성폭력 피해와 관련된 피해에 대한 지금까지 알려져 있는 사실들 및 연구결과에 대해 국내 및 국외의 연구들을 문헌분석을 통해 비교, 분석하고 정리하였다. 구체적으로는 이 연구는 일반인 남성 성폭력 피해자들과 군대 내 남성 성폭력 피해자들의 특징, 피해의 정도, 피해자들의 필요 및 범죄피해의 양태 그리고 이들의 성폭행 범죄피해 신고를 방해하는 요인들 등과 관련한 분석결과의 차이점과 유사점들을 비교하였다. 연구결과 국외의 선행연구들에서는 일반인 남성과 군대 내 남성에 대한 성폭행과 그 피해에 일부 차이가 존재하며 이에 따라 두 집단에 대한 연구가 분리되어 수행될 필요가 있다는 점을 제시한다. 무엇보다도 이 연구는 기존의 국내의 연구에서 성폭력 피해자로서 남성에 대해 수행된 연구가 매우 소수에 그치는 현재 국내의 연구 환경에서 남성 성폭력 피해자의 연구의 필요성이 절실함을 지적한다. 마지막으로 결론에서 선행연구결과들에 대한 분석결과로 도출된 두 종합적인 내용을 토대로 국내에서 남성 성폭력 피해자들에 대해 어떠한 방향으로 연구를 수행해야 할지에 대한 구체적인 사항들에 대해 제시하고 있다.

Sexual assaults and victimization of men are not a well-known study topic in South Korea. However, it has been investigated for decades among oversee scholars. To fill the gap of study on male sexual assault victims, this study aims to review prevalence rates, characteristics of the violence against man victims, factors associated with victims and predators of sexual violence against men. Furthermore, this study examined the needs of men victims of sexual violence and the factors prohibiting them to report to the police and approaches to the existing sexual violence victim support systems. Especially, this study reviewed studies about men sexual victims in society and men in military to compare differences and similarities between the two group of victims. In conclusion, we discussed the results of the study findings, and policy implications and suggested future research directions.
