캄보디아 킬링필드에 대한 미국의 정책과 책임에 대한 담론

Discourse over the US Policy and Responsibility on the Killing Fields of Cambodia

  • 121

This paper aims to discuss the policy and responsibility that the United States made and had about the Killing Fields of Cambodia, which is hugely against human rights. I, as a research method, introduce the aspects of Killing-Field Museums, Tuol Sleng and Choeung Ek, describing the political and military relationships between Cambodia and its neighboring countries, and observing how the American government affected on Khmer Rouge’s action. Through the analysis, the United States had not a little responsibility on the massacre by Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge: Ruthless air attack on the Cambodian territory and its terrible result in joining Khmer Rouge, an anti-American party; covert assitance to Khmer Rouge so as to keep the Communist Vietnamese; and remarkable ignorance of Khmer Rouge’s brutal holocaust by preferring its political advantage. This study highlights that human rights are over any other interests in the international relations.
