Remembering Jeju 4&#8231;3 and Yosun 10&#8231;19 with the Post-Modernism of Memento

This paper aims to apply a new way of remembering Jeju 4 &#8231;3 and Yosun 10&#8231;19 with the post-modernism of Memento. So far most scholars discuss whether Jeju 4&#8231;3 and Yosun 10&#8231;19 are a strife or a revolt, which is differently understood according to the ideological propensity conservatives and progressionists pursue. However, the issue of the violation of human rights or the genocide is far from the ideology debate. A film Memento teaches a post-modernism approach to how to interpret such a historical event and site by its retrogressive description. With the help of the thinking method, Jeju 4&#8231;3 opens the controversy over the right name of it, a due resistance, and Yosun 10&#8231;19 means an excessive countermeasure to a local struggle with an intention of building an authoritarian government supported by the US military power. This idea of remembering is concluded to be an interpretation, not just a record.
