忠淸西海岸地域의 粘土帶土器文化流入과 文化接變

A Study on Acculturation and the Cultural Influx of Clay-band Rim Pottery Culture in the West Coastal region in Chungcheongnam-do

본고는 충청서해안지역을 대상으로 하여 재지문화와 외래문화 사이에 나타난 문화접변 양상에 대해서 검토한 것이다. 이 지역의 청동기시대 후기문화는 송국리유형과 수석리유형의 물질문화로 구성된다. 중국 요령지역에 계보를 갖는 원형점토대토기문화의 남하를 계기로 후기문화가 성립되면서 중기부터 이어져 온 송국리유형과 외래기원의 수석리유형은 공존하게 되었다. 송국리유형의 재지집단과 수석리유형의 외래집단은 계통을 달리하는 문화집단이다. 이와 관련하여 보령 및 서천지역의 취락들을 검토한 결과 異문화 집단들 사이에 문화접변 현상이 다양하게 나타났다는 것을 파악할 수 있었다. 집단의 정체성과 성격을 반영하는 토기와 주거의 존재양태를 통해서 볼 때, 이 지역의 재지 선주민집단과 외래 이주민집단은 초기의 갈등·대립 관계를 벗어나 서로 우호적인 친연 관계를 형성했던 것으로 생각된다. 이와 같은 상호작용 가운데 하나가 혼인관계의 성립이며, 이는 모방 혹은 절충토기가 갖는 사회적 의미와도 관련된다. 또한 취락(집단)마다 공동체의 운영 원리 또는 성향에 따라서 외부 집단과의 대응방식이 달랐던 것으로 추정된다. 이것은 외래집단과 상호작용하는 재지집단의 주체 세력이 보령과 서천지역의 취락에 따라 위상 차이를 보이기 때문이다. 이것이 충청서해안지역 내에서의 소지역성을 반영하는 것인지, 아니면 취락 별 성격 차이를 말해주는 것인지는 앞으로의 검토대상이다.

This paper aims to investigate the cultural influx between a local culture and a foreign culture in West Coastal region in Chungcheongnam-do. The clay–band rim pottery culture originated from Liaoning area of China had formed the late culture of the Bronze Age in the southern area and this created the local culture which has been pre-existing with the foreign culture. The relics from settlement areas in the Boryeong and Seocheon areas suggests a wide range of cultural acculturation between the different cultural groups. The aspects of pottery and settlements reflecting cultural identities suggest that former inhabitants and immigrants had favorable relations born out of a conflict in an early period. Marital relations was one of these interactions between those two cultural groups. This is related to the social implication which imitation pottery has. It is estimated that each settlement had its own principles and tendencies in the community and had different measures for out-groups. Depending on the settlement, the main body of a local group interacting with an out-group had different status.
