유럽 鐵器時代鐵生産體制의 成立過程에 대한 硏究

An examination of the formation of the iron metallurgy system of Europe during the Iron Age - focusing on Etruscan iron culture

본고는 유럽 철 생산체제의 성립과정의 지역적 다양성을 살펴보고자 하는 취지로 작성되었다. 최근까지의 연구결과, 철기시대 철제품의 대량 생산 거점은 유럽 최초 철 생산의 거점이라고 할 수 있는 에트루리아, 오스트리아 중부지역, 그리고 영국 남동부의 윌드(Weald) 일대 등 세 지역을 손꼽을 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 시간적으로 가장앞선 이탈리아 반도의 에트루리아를 중심으로 철 생산체제가 성립되는 과정을 살펴보았다. 먼저 유럽에서 철 생산체제의 도입과정을 살펴보고, 에트루리아에서 철기문화가 전개되는 과정을 통시적으로 검토했다. 그리고 나서 이렇게 해서 형성된 에트루리아의 철 생산문화의 특징을 살펴보고 철 제품의 사회적 성격과 철기문화가 미친 사회문화적 영향을 평가하고자 했다. 궁극적으로 본 연구의 초점은 유럽의 사례를 한반도의 철기도입 양상과 비교하기 위한 것이므로, 당시유럽 중심지역에서 성립된 철 생산기술이 한국고고학에 시사해 주는바를 논의했다.

This paper aims to assess the establishment of the iron production culture of Europe during the Iron Age from a comparative perspective. As part of an endeavor to examine the mechanisms by which iron technology came to be adopted in Europe, this paper focuses on the adoption of iron within Etruscan society from the Late Bronze Age to the Early Iron Age. Firstly, the introduction of iron production technology from the Near East into Europe is examined, and the process by which iron production technology came to be adopted within Etruria is considered. Secondly, the way in which Etruscan iron production technology and finished iron products spread into the surrounding regions is identified. Through this attempt, the characteristic features of Etruscan iron culture were discussed. Finally, the implications that this case study on Etruscan iron culture may provide for Korean archaeology were explored.
