성토대지조성을 통해 본 사비도성의 공간구조변화와 운용

An Investigation of Sabi Capital City Space Structure Change and Organization Using Seongto Daeji

최근 조사된 부여 능산리사지, 왕흥사지, 관북리유적은 도성의 공간구조 변화에 관하여 접근할 수 있는 실마리를 제공한다. 각 유적에서는 성토대지 라고 하는 천도 대지조성 기법을 적용하여 기존 저습지에 건축 부지를 새로 마련하였는데 관북리유적은 나성 내부 왕궁 공간의 확장공사, 능산리사지와 왕흥사지는 나성 바깥의 도성 외곽지역 개발공사에 해당한다. 이는 모두 6세기 중후엽을 기점으로 도성 재정비 및 외곽지역 개발이 이루어졌음을 보여주는 일련의 증거로서, 이후 기존과 다른 도성구조가 형성되었음을 시사한다. 변화된 도성구조를 파악하기 위해, 본고에서는 세 유적의 지형지리적 특성, 대지조성 방법과 시기를 비교함은 물론 주변의 주요 건조물들의 공간분포를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 사비도성에서는 6세기 중후엽을 기점으로 (1)도성 내부의 도심, (2)능산리사지나 왕흥사지 권역과 같은 도성 외곽의 부심, 그리고 (3)일반 사지나 부속시설들이 존재하는 도성 바깥의 외곽거점 등 크게 3단계로 구분되는 공간구조가 형성되었음을 알 수 있었다. 본고에서는 이러한 도성내부 재정비와 외곽지역 개발과 같은 일련의 변화들은 대외관계 강화를 통해 국난을 수습하고 왕권을 강화하려는 위덕왕의 국가 운영 전략에 따른 것이라 해석하였다.

Seongto Daeji is to fill and flatten low-lying areas, and it may be the first space expansion construction performed not inside Naseong but in the suburban area around a capital city in the case of the Wangheung temple site, the Neungsan-ri temple site and Gwanbuk-ri site. These are a series of evidence that shows the reorganization of a capital city and the development of the suburban area centering around the mid-to-later 6th century, which signifies that capital city structures different from previous ones were created. In order to identify this, the paper attempted an analysis of the space distribution of major buildings around the Buyeo area based on the geographical characteristics and land construction methods of the three sites as well as similarities in their construction periods, and established the central sphere outside the capital city. Also, the study analyzed the characteristics of main facilities that were shown in the space distribution. As a result, the paper discovered that a series of changes such as the reorganization of a capital city and the development of the suburban area were conducted in compliance with the national operation strategies. At that time, international relationships were fortified to overcome disadvantageous circumstances with neighboring countries including Goguryeo and Shilla, but ultimately, this became a mechanism that strengthened royal power. Such changes led to the reorganization and development of Sabi capital city where diverse political, economic activities had been performed. Accordingly, the suburban area around a capital city was classified into the highest central area that had been directly connected to royal power and a central area that had been under the influence of the aristocratic class.
