폰타네의 작품에 나타난 여성의 자아구현

Women s Self-implementation in Fontane s Works

  • 3

Theodor Fontane(1819-1898) is raising questions about existing morals or dogma through female humanities in his works. Mathilde, Franziska, Effi, Cécile, etc. are all women who resist the existing moral rules and actively strive for self-realization. Violating the existing moral rules of a male-centered patriarchal society, it attempts to realize self by destroying the civic conclusion ideology through adultery. Even though men are forced to obey women, women recognize culture or adultery as a means to achieve their goals, and men reject requests and try to find identity by breaking away from existing gender roles. In this regard, Fontane can be said to be an artist who was ahead of a rare era at that time, giving female characters an emancipatory notion and giving support to people fighting for the individual.
