디지털 미디어 리터러시에 영향을 주는 요인에 관한 탐색적 연구

An Exploratory Study on Factors Influencing Digital Media Literacy: Focusing on the SNS use behavior and the parenting attitude of parents

본 연구는 SNS의 다양한 이용 행태와 부모의 양육 태도가 디지털 미디어 리터러시를 구성하는 하위 역량들에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 탐색하기 위해, 10대와 20대를포함한 총 321명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 진행했다. 주요 연구 결과, SNS의다양한 이용 경험은 디지털 미디어를 배우고 이해할 수 있는 능력에 긍정적이면서 부정적인 영향을 동시에 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 상대적으로 긍정적인 효과가 더 높은 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, SNS의 다양한 이용 행태 가운데 SNS 공간에서 솔직하게 자신을 표현하는 경험은 디지털 미디어 리터러시 역량에 일관되게 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 요인으로 밝혀졌다. 반면 SNS를 오래 이용할수록 미디어의 비판적 이해능력이 낮아지는 것으로 나타남으로서 SNS 이용시간은 미디어 리터러시에 부정적인영향을 주는 요인으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 디지털 미디어 리터러시 역량의 온라인 규범준수에 긍정적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 예측변인은 발견되지 않았다. 마지막으로 부모의 긍정적인 양육 태도는 일관적으로 자녀의 디지털 미디어 리터러시를 높여줄 수 있는 요인으로 작용하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 젊은 세대들이 실제 디지털 미디어를다양하게 이용하는 과정을 통해 경험적으로 미디어에 대해 이해하고 배울 수 있다는것을 알 수 있었으며, 연구결과와 관련된 함의가 함께 논의되었다.

This study aimed to explore whether the use behavior of social networking services (SNS) and parenting attitudes of parents influence digital media literacy. In doing so, 321 people, including participants in their teens and twenties, were investigated, and an online survey was conducted on the subject. The significant results of this research are as follows. First, various experiences of using SNS have both positive and negative effects on the ability to learn and understand media. Second, the experience of expressing oneself honestly in the SNS platforms among various SNS usage behaviors was found to be a factor consistently positively influencing digital media literacy capabilities. Conversely, as the results showed that the longer the use of SNS, the lower the critical comprehension ability of the media, the use time of SNS was confirmed as a factor negatively affecting digital media literacy. Third, no predictive variables could positively influence the compliance of digital media literacy capabilities with media norms. Lastly, the positive parenting attitude of parents was confirmed to act as a factor that can increase children s digital media literacy. Younger generations were found to empirically understand and learn about media through the process of using digital media in various ways. The implications of the research results were discussed.
