학술적 담화공동체의 개념과 학술적 글쓰기 교육에서의 의미

Examination of the Definition and Meaning of the Academic Discourse Community in the Context of Writing Education

본 연구는 글쓰기 교육 분야에서 대학교를 학술적 담화공동체라고 전제하는데 착안하여,담화공동체의 개념과 기준을 이론적으로 검토·정리해 보았다.이때Swales(1990)에서의 담화공동체 개념과 이를 다시 수정한Swales(2016)을 중심으로분석했다.특히Swales의 담화공동체 개념에 대한 비판적 연구들을 정리하고 이를통해Swales의 담화공동체 개념에 변화 양상을 추적·정리해 보았다.또한 학술적 담화공동체의 세 가지 유형과 특징을 살펴보았고,학술적 담화공동체의 구체적 예시를바탕으로 대학원 유학생을 위한 글쓰기 교육에서의 의미도 정리해 보았다.본 연구는학술적 담화공동체의 개념을 정리하고 교육적 의미를 모색했다는 점에서 의의가 있을 것이다

This study presupposes college as an academic discourse community in the field of writing education and examines and defines the meaning and standards of a discourse community. To perform relevant analysis, this study focused on the definition of the discourse community provided by Swales (1990) and the revised version of this definition proposed by Swales (2016). In particular, the critical studies on the concept of the discourse community conducted by Swales were organized and, through the findings, the aspect of changes in this concept by Swales were traced and arranged. Moreover, the three types of the academic discourse community and their characteristics were examined and, based on detailed examples of the academic discourse community, the meaning of the academic discourse community in the writing education of foreign graduate students was identified. This study is meaningful because it outlines the accumulated concept of the discourse community and investigates the community’s educational meaning.
