A Study on the Text Without Plot: N. Nekrasov’s “Autumn boredom” and A. Chekhov’s “The Daring”

이 논문은 네크라소프의 단막극 <가을의 지루함>과 체홉의 단편 <귀여운 여인>을 통해 무슈제트 텍스트를 연구한다. 로트만에 따르면 무슈제트 텍스트는 사건이 발생하기 이전의 상황을 묘사하고, 하나의 세계 그리고 그 세계의 안정된 구조와 확고한 질서를 주장한다. 로트만은 무슈제트 텍스트의 사례로 전화번호부와 사건 없는 서정시를 제시하고 있지만, 러시아 소설과 희곡의 역사에는 많은 무슈제트 텍스트가 존재한다. 이 논문에서는 이들 중 두 편의 작품을 소개하고 분석한다. 네크라소프의 희곡 <가을의 지루함>에서 구성적 특징은 반복이며, 이야기의 동기를 제공하고 이끄는 갈등과 사건은 존재하지 않는다. 지주 라수코프와 하인들 사이의 경계 그리고 그들의 위계관계는 확고하며, 이것은 사건의 부재를 결과로 낳는다. 사건이 없는 대신 <가을의 지루함>에서는 상황의 통일성과 주제의 통일성이 실현된다. 희곡에서 사용된 청원모델은 또한 사회적 환경을 묘사하는 수단이 된다. 체홉의 소설 <귀여운 여인>은 유사한 형식과 내용을 갖는 네 에피소드로 구성된다. 이 단편은 청원모델의 구조를 가지며 사건이 존재하지 않는다. 반면에 사건보다는 상황이 조명되고 있으며, 소설에는 상황의 통일성과 주제의 통일성이 나타난다.

This paper is devoted to study the text without plot: N. Nekrasov’s one-act play “Autumn boredom” and A. Chekhov’s short story “The Darling” are analyzed. According to Ju. Lotman, the text without plot describes the situation before the occurrence of an event and asserts a world, its stable structure and its fixed order. Although Lotman gave a phone book or a lyrical plotless poem as examples of the text without plot, there are a lot of plotless texts in Russian novels and plays, two works of which are here to analyze. The constitutive characteristic of Nekrasov’s play is repetition while there are no conflicts and events that motivate and make up the story. The boundary between the landlord Lasukov and the servants and their hierarchical relationship are firmly maintained what results in the absence of events, while the unity of the situation and the unity of the theme are realized. The petition model used in the play “Autumn Boredom” should contribute to the description of the social environment. Chekhov’s novel “The Darling” consists of four episodes which have a similar format; there are no events which is governed by the principle of repetition, and the situation rather than the event is focused through the petition model, so this short story reveals the unity of the situation and theme.
