러시아어의 상의 삼중쌍에 대한 정의와 이에 대한 논의는 많은 연구가들에 의해 이루어지고 있으며 여기에 대해서는 많은 논쟁의 여지가 있다. Зализняк& Микаэлян(2010)은 단순불완료상과 완료상 그리고 여기에서 조어적으로 파생된 이차불완료상의 의미가 동일할 경우 그리고 단순불완료상과 이차불완료상이 서로 상호교환이 가능하다면 상의 삼중쌍의 관계가 성립된다고 주장하며 гибнуть – погибнуть – погибать 동사를 상의 삼중쌍으로 보고 있다. 하지만 사전에 따라 гибнуть와 погибать의 의미에 대해 각각 다르게 서술하고 있으며, гибнуть – погибнуть, погибнуть – погибать 의 상의 쌍의 여부에 대해서도 사전들마다 모두 다른 관점을 보인다. 따라서 погибнуть – гибнуть – погибать가 실제로 상의 삼중쌍을 이루는지를 살펴보기 위해서는 문맥 속에서 이들이 사용되는 용례들을 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 러시아어 국립 코퍼스에서 서로 20단어 이내의 거리에서 등장하는 각 사례를 모두 조사해, 해당 맥락에서 발현되고 있는 상적, 어휘의미적 특징들을 분류해 보았다. 이를 통해 실제 맥락 속에서 나타나는 гибнуть와 погибать의 의미 차이는 동의어로 간주할 수 없을 만큼 크다는 것이 밝혀졌으며, 따라서 гиб- нуть – поги-бнуть – погибать는 상의 삼중쌍으로 간주하기 어렵다는 것을 알 수 있다.
Many researchers debate about the definition and the distribution of Russian aspectual triplets. For example, A. Zaliznjak and I. Mikaeljan (2010) consider the verbal triplet gibnut’ – pogivnut’ – pogibat’ as an aspectual triplet, on the ground that these verbs are all synonyms and the simple imperfective verb (НСВ1) gibnut’ and the second imperfective verb (НСВ2) pogibat’ are interchangeable with each other. However, some dictionaries describe the meanings of gibnut’ and pogibnut’ differently, and consequently the meanings of pogibat’, which is derived from the perfective verb pogibnut’, are described differently from the meaning of gibnut’. Therefore, in order to reliably consider gibnut’ – pogibnut’ – pogibat’ as an aspectual triplet, it is necessary to carefully analyze each meaning of their usages in every context. For this purpose, in this study we extracted all the usages of these verbs, which appeared between 20 words in the Russian National Corpus, and analyzed the meaning of each verb in the given contexts. From this analysis we found that the difference in lexico-semantic meanings between gibnut’ and pogibat’ under the actual contexts is so significant that they cannot be interchangeable with each other in the given contexts. So it will not be reasonable to consider gibnut’ – pogivnut’ – pogibat’ as an aspectual triplet.
