A Study on the Choice Behavior of Housing Size and Tenure Depending on the Number of Household Members

Due to social·economic changes, household structure’s changes, and structural environment changes, it broke away from the meantime uniformed bulk housing supply method and faced the challenge that needs to develop · supply differentiated housing according to each household’s characteristic as a basic unit of housing consumption. Housing choice according to the household characteristic like this considers various factors and various factors affects simultaneously rather than separately in choosing a house. Therefore, the study conducted by considering differentiated housing numbers from existing study with national housing market as its subject. The study was done in a way that households classified into 1,2people household, 3,4people household, and 5 or more people household, then combination form of two types such as housing size and housing occupation form was used as alternative choice through various household’s characteristic revealed according to household members. Followings are the conclusion of the study that tried to investigate housing choice characteristic according to the individual household’s consumer characteristic. First, various housing choice alternatives should be provided to individual households so that they can consume rationally. Second, housing supply policy that considers aging trend should be established. Third, differentiated housing choice support measure according to each household members should be provided. Fourth, the establishment of regionally differentiated strategy is needed for the government’s housing policy and housing construction company’s housing supply. Fifth, the introduction of affordable housing concept that considers social integration between income classes for housing supply is needed.
