Study on the Conflicts of the Regional Residents on Development of Maritime Tourism Estate: With Focus on Saemangeum Region

Maritime tourism estate development induces conflicts between regions. Preventing and managing such dissensions is an important task for efficient pursuit of the project. Accordingly, Study on the conflicts of the regional residents on maritime tourism estate of the Saemangeum region was carried out. Summary of the Study results illustrated that conflicts existed for each regions. The biggest conflicts is the possibility of occurrence of conflicts continuously between Gunsan, Gimje and Buan with regards to the Saemangeum development project and tourism estate development project in the future, followed by continuous regional conflicts due to Saemangeum development plan, confrontation of opinions related to the plans of Saemangeum development project, and generation of regional animosity between regions due to Saemangeum tourism development project, in the order as listed. Causes for the conflicts of the region should be removed through the results of this Study, and accomplish maritime tourism development more efficiently by seeking rational means of solution aimed at reducing damages incurred due to delay in the project, etc, through reduction of such causes.
