A Study on the Effects of Aging Readiness and Anxiety for the Choice Intention of Housing Reverse Mortgage- Focused on Baby Boomers‘ Life Style -

The baby boomer generation (born between the years of 1955-1963) in Korea is a huge population which forms the core of national demographic structure. The number of baby boomers reaches more than 7.12 million and they have been crucial in developing country’s economic and reconstructions. They also have devoted their lives to supporting their parents and rearing their children during their lives. However they hardly ever prepared their own old age so that their main asset is just one house in which they live. Based on above situations, the purpose of this paper is to draw up supporting policy for old age of baby boomers by analyzing the effects of aging readiness and anxiety for the choice intention of housing reverse mortgage from focusing on baby boomers‘ life style. This study adopted structured equation model(SEM) methodology in statistical analysis for the purpose of understanding the direct effect, indirect effect, and total effect at a glance, as well as cause-and-effect relationships between the factors and pass relationship by practical analysis at a stroke. The result of SEM represents that baby boomers’ lifestyle is not able to have an effect on the choice intention of housing reverse mortgage by itself. However, the result also shows that lifestyle could influence on the choice intention of housing reverse mortgage by mediation effects if aging readiness and anxiety were added to it. The mediation effect, direct effect, and total effect were summed up through disassembling of effects between the factors by structured equation model analysis.
