A Study on the Importance of Location Determinant Factors of Korean Direct Investment Companies in Vietnam

Vietnam has been one of the favorite FDI(Foreign Direct Investment) destinations to Korean companies since 1992 when the diplomatic relation between Korea and Vietnam resumed. The business environment of manufacturing in Korea is continuing to grow difficult, leading to Korean companies relocate their manufacturing facilities abroad. The number of incorporation of Korean FDI in Vietnam is remarkably increasing and the number of 4,459 Korean investors in Vietnam as of the year of 2015 outnumbered any other countries. This means Korean entrepreneurs prefer Vietnam for overseas manufacturing locations to other candidates. The purpose of this study is to research the importance of location determinants to Korean manufacturing companies. Elements of the review are transport, availability of labor and raw materials, market structure, government laws, industrial sites, good for the community, utilities, tax structure, the climate in the country to be invested as well as international factors which are important to investors before deciding to invest in a country. This study find the conclusion that the relocation site depend on the products criterions of Korean FDI companies; for exportation or for domestic use, consumer goods or productive materials, target markets.
