대형 전시컨벤션(MICE) 시설의 입지요인에 대한 연구

A Study on the Location Factors of the Large-scale MICE Facilities

Nationally important Exhibition and Convention(MICE) studies have, to date, been carried out at individual facilities or at national level. This study expanded the targets to large-scale MICE facilities around the world, and tried to empirically analyze what factors influenced the location. This complements the past research of prediction-centered results to obtain verification results, thereby promoting MICE theory and providing an important basis for urban planning. It was confirmed that the accommodation GRDP and wholesale and retail GRDP, the number of annual airline flights, and the number of airport runways have a significant effect on the location of large-scale MICE facilities. This study attempted to study the characteristics of MICE facilities around the world on the significance of MICE as the basic infrastructure of cities. The difference from existing research is that the scope of the research was not limited to a specific country or one or two facilities, but expanded to the world, and an empirical analysis was conducted on the factors that influence the location in determining the location of MICE facilities. Is that it did. Data from 5 years before and 5 years after the start of construction operation were collected and analyzed targeting 33 out of 62 large MICE facilities with a total floor area of 100,000㎡ or more distributed worldwide. As for the analysis method, for the analysis of the location factors of the MICE facility, multiple regression analysis was performed as a demand prediction method for the facility area. As an analysis variable, the ‘MICE population coefficient , which is the value obtained by dividing the MICE facility area by the population, was set. The result of analyzing the location factors of large MICE facilities revealed that the wholesale and retail business GRDP, the lodging business GRDP, and the annual number of aircraft operations were significant factors 5 years before the establishment. One unit of the wholesale and retail GRDP affects the population coefficient as much as 3.5529 (㎡/person), and a move of one unit of the lodging industry GRDP has an effect of 4.6389 (㎡/person) on the population coefficient. And, as for the number of air flights, 1 unit had an effect of 0.0555 (㎡/person) on the MICE population coefficient . Three years before the establishment, the wholesale and retail business GRDP and the accommodation business GRDP were significant. Specifically, one unit of wholesale/retail business GRDP affects the MICE population coefficient by 3.2758 (㎡/person), and one unit of accommodation business GRDP affects the MICE population coefficient by 6.8214 (㎡/person). One year before the establishment, the number of runways in the wholesale and retail business, the accommodation business, and the airport was found to be significant. One unit of wholesale/retail business GRDP had an effect of 3.074 (㎡/person), and one unit of accommodation business GRDP had an effect of 6.8958 (㎡/person). And the number of runways at the airport was affecting 6633.36 (㎡/person) per unit. In the year of operation, the wholesale and retail business GRDP, the lodging business GRDP, and the number of airport runways were significant. However, the analysis results at 3 years after the start of operation showed low explanatory power, making it difficult to confirm the significance between the variables that were significant before construction and the MICE area count. In sum, the factors affecting the location of large MICE facilities were wholesale and retail GRDP, accommodation GRDP, the number of aircraft operations and the number of airport runways. This can be interpreted that GRDP, which is the scale of the regional economy, has a great influence on the location of large MICE facilities, and it can be seen that the airport, which is a geographically important infrastructure facility, has a close influence on the location of large MICE facilities.
