이상(李箱) 문학에서의 여성-동물과 여성-인형의 ‘몸’들

‘Bodies’ of Woman-Animal and Woman-Doll in Lee sang’s Literature

이상 문학에서 자주 나타나는 초현실적인 변신은 고정적이며 안정된 실체로서의 몸이 아닌, 새롭게 변형되고 생성되는 몸을 형상화하고 있다. 특별히 이상 문학에서 변신이 여성의 몸이라는 매개를 통해 형상화된다는 점은 새롭게 주목해 볼만하다. 이상의 텍스트에서 변신의 상상력은 여성-동물과 여성-인형의 형태로 드러난다. ‘동물되기’는 인간됨을 완전히 초월한 변신으로서 여성-동물 가운데 ‘여성-거미’와 ‘여성-새’는 종(種)을 가로지르는 횡단적 사유의 결과물이며 현실로부터의 탈주가 가능한 무성적(無性的)인 그로테스크한 몸들을 형상화한다. 한편 이상 텍스트에서 여성의 몸은 인형 그 가운데서 태엽 인형인 오토마타나 줄이 달린 꼭두각시로 표현되기도 한다. 여성의 신체를 미러링하고 있는 여성-인형의 몸은 여성 인간의 섹슈얼리티를 그대로 갖고 있으며 남성주체의 지배욕망으로부터 자유롭지 못하다. 여성-인형의 몸에 대한 남성인물의 지배욕망은, 이상 텍스트의 남성 인물들이 지속적으로 탈주를 위한 초월적 변신에의 욕망을 갖고 있지만 그들에게 끝내 포기하기 어려운 인간됨에 대한 집착이 남성성의 형태로 남아 있음을 보여준다.

The surrealistic metamorphosis frequently shown in Lee sang’s literature, are representing the newly transformed and formed body, instead of a body as an object of knowledge in modern medical science, and a fixed and stabled entity. Especially, it is valuable enough to newly pay attention to metamorphosis in Lee sang’s literature as it is represented through the mediation of woman’s body. In Lee sang’s texts, the imagination of metamorphosis through woman’s body is revealed in the form of woman-animal and woman-doll. In case of woman-animal, the woman-spider and woman-bird are the results of cross-sectional thinking that transcends the species, and representing such grotesque bodies that could run away from the reality. Meanwhile, in Lee sang’s texts, woman’s body is sometimes represented as automata which is a controllable clockwork doll or a puppet with strings. This inhuman body similar to human body is composed of inorganic matters, which represents a terrifying body different from animals. Even though the woman-animal and woman-doll mediate the deconstructive thinking that disturbs the boundary between human and non-human in Lee sang’s literature, the body of woman-doll is not free from the male subject’s desire to dominate others, especially, women. The desire to dominate woman’s body represented into doll, shows that the vestige of being humane the male characters or male subjects could not give up to the end is remained as a trace of masculinity in Lee sang’s texts.
