포스트 코로나시대 초등 예비교사 대상 영어과교육 수업의 운영 방향 탐색

New Directions of English Education Course Management for Pre-service Primary Teachers in the Post Corona Era

본 연구는 코로나19로 인해 전면 온라인 교육으로 진행된 영어과교육 수업에 대해 학생들이 어떤 어려움을 느꼈고 향후 포스트 코로나 시대에는 영어과교육수업이 어떤 방식으로 진행되기를 희망하는지 학생들 의견을 알아보는 데 그 목적이있다. 이를 위해 2021년 1학기에 영어과교육 과목을 수강했던 교육대학교 3학년 학생들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 온라인 수업에 대한 만족도는 높은 편이었고, 많은 학생들이 온라인 수업이 대면 수업과 비교해학습 효과 면에서 떨어지지 않았다고 답하였다. 그러나 실습, 수업시연과 같이 상호작용과 피드백이 필요한 영역에 있어서는 온라인 수업의 한계를 인식하였다. 둘째, 학생들이 포스트 코로나시대에 가장 선호하는 영어과교육 수업의 강의 방식은 대면수업과온라인 녹화 동영상 강의를 병행하는 것이었고 온라인 수업의 비율이 전체 강의의반 이상이어도 괜찮다는 의견을 보였다. 또한 플립러닝 방식으로 이론은 온라인으로하고, 학교에서는 실습 위주로 수업을 했으면 좋겠다는 의견도 있었다. 향후 영어과교육 수업을 위해 교수자는 대면과 비대면 강의의 가장 효율적인 조합이 되도록 수업계획을 세워야 할 것이다.

This study aims to find out not only the difficulties that the pre-service teachers faced in the virtual learning of English education course─which was enforced by the COVID-19 pandemic─but also the preferred ways of course management that they recognized. To this end, a survey was conducted among 92 elementary pre-service teachers who took the English education course in Spring 2021 semester. The results of the study were as follows. First, the course-takers’ satisfaction with virtual classes was high. Most of them answered that there was no significant difference in the learning effect between virtual and in-person learning. However, they recognized the limitations of virtual classes in the domain of demonstration teaching and practice which require lively interactions and meaningful feedback. Second, a combination of in-person class and video recording turned out to be the most preferred teaching method. According to the survey, it would be fine if virtual classes took up more than half of the total classes. Pre-service teachers expressed that it would be better to introduce flipped learning, which integrates online-based theory learning with in-person practices at school. In sum, the most effective educational effect in the post-pandemic era depends on constantly searching for the balance between in-person and virtual learning.
