본 연구는 한국의 평화교육 연구의 경향을 분석하고 진단하였다. 이를 위해 1980년대 이후의 평화교육 연구를 시기별로 나누어서 분석하였으며, 각 시기를 1980년대: 평화교육 연구의 도입과 소개기, 1990년대: 평화교육 연구의 성장과 심화기, 2000년대: 새로운 평화교육의 개념과 교육실천의 모색기로 구분하였다. 그리고 향후 한국에서의 평화교육 연구의 과제들을 밝히기 위한 논의를 하였다. 한국에서의 평화교육 연구는 1980년대 이후 양적으로나 질적으로 비약적인 발전을 이루어왔고, 이제는 교육학적으로 영향력 있는 담론을 형성하게 되었다. 하지만 전지구적 비평화와 갈등이 인간을 비롯한 생명체들의 생존을 위협하는 심각한 상황을 생각할 때, 평화교육에 대한 연구는 더욱더 활발하게 이루어져야 할 것이다.
This study aims at describing the history of peace education research in Korea since 1980?. The period since 1980? was divided into three decades in this study, 1980?, 1990?, and 2000?. The history of peace education research in each decade was described with the historical and social atmosphere of Korea, the characteristics of peace education research, and valuable and meaningful studies. In 1980?, peace education was introduced to Korea. The concept of ?eace?and ?eace education?was discussed in many studies. Some studies regarded the division of Korean peninsula as the critical factor of violence in Korea. Some studies introduced various peace theories to education. Others criticized the violent educational atmosphere of Korean schools and proposed more peaceful solutions. In 1990?, peace education in Korea was developed variously. Some studies were focused on the Korean historical context of peace education, so they included the concept of ?eunification education?and ?ife education?into peace education. Many ?ew?researchers were coming up in 1990?, and they tried enormously to combine the theory and the practice of peace education. Many dissertations on peace education in 1990? represented academical growingup of peace education research in Korea. Since 2000, peace education in Korea came up the new era. Many creative studies of peace education discussed on the globalization, terrorism, discrimination, and so on. Many seminars and colloquiums were held to find out the solutions to more peaceful education and society. Some studies tried to systemize the theory of peace education. Some proposed exciting programs for peace education. Some teachers started to report the actual experience of peace education in schools. Others started to research and report the experience of peace education in other countries, and they tried to make worldwide peace education network. Since 1980? the research of peace education in Korea grew up surprisingly, but we need much more research, thinking of the violence surrounding our daily life. Through the studies finding out the causes of violence and the ways to peace, we should create the culture of peace.
