사회참여활동을 적용한 과학교양 수업설계와 학습자의 사회참여인식 변화

Design of science liberal arts education applied to social participation activities and the resultant change in learners perception

목적 본 연구의 목적은 사회참여활동을 과학교양 수업에 적용시켜 본래의 설강 취지인 창의·융합 역량을 제고함과 동시에 학습자들의 사회참여의식을 고취시킬 수업모델을 개발하고, 사회참여 교육효과를 검증하는 것이다. 방법 본 연구는 2021년 1학기, K대학교에 개설된 과학교양교과에 과학기술관련 사회쟁점을 주제로 한 사회참여활동 교육을 적용시킨 후, 교육전과 후의 사회참여인식에 변화가 있는지 알아보았다. 지역사회에 대한 소속감, 사회적 책임감, 사회참여 효능감, 과학기술관련 사회쟁점 효능감, 비판적 사고와 문제해결력의 총 5가지 구성개념을 측정하였고, 비모수통계인 윌콕슨 순위부호 검증을 통해 분석하였다. 결과 총 46명 학습자의 사회참여활동 프로그램 사전-사후 응답 결과를 분석한 결과, 지역사회에 대한 소속감, 사회적 책임감, 사회참여 효능감, 과학기술관련 사회쟁점 효능감, 비판적사고력과 문제해결력 등의 모든 변수에서 긍정적으로 향상되어 사회참여활동 적용 수업설계의 효과가 입증되었다. 결론 본 연구는 이론 위주의 진행되어오던 과학교양교과에 사회참여활동을 적용시켜 운영한 사례에 대한 실증적 분석으로, 생명과학에 대한 기초 소양 함양과 동시에 대학생들의 사회참여역량을 향상시켰다는 점에서 과학교양 교과의 새로운 융복합 교육모델을 제시할 수 있을 것이다.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to apply social participation activities to science liberal arts education to enhance creativity and convergence capabilities, which are the original purpose of the lecture, while developing a curriculum model to enhance learners perception of social participation. Methods Structured questionnaires were conducted twice for students in a science liberal arts class applying social participation activities designed socioscientific issues, and the education effects were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results The analysis of 46 pre- and post-response demonstrated the effectiveness of social participation activities by significantly improving variables such as local sense of community, social responsibility, efficacy of social participation, efficacy of socioscientific issues, critical thinking and problem solving capacity. Conclusions This study is an empirical analysis of the case of applying social participation activities to science liberal arts education, and it can present a new convergence education model in that it improved university students social participation competency.
