Originating in the the early 2000s, Regional Trade Agreement(RTA) have taken the course of developing into a large-scale FTA after going through a process of expanding signatories and entering into agreements between multiple parties. Currently undergoing ratification procedures, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP) is expected to have a huge impact on Global Value Chain(GVC). The present study attempted to strengthen the implications for changes to marine product GVC in accordance with changes to the international trade environment by conducting research on Rules of Origin for marine products particularly in agreements that South Korea has entered into and by comparing them to the rules of origin for marine products in the RCEP which is expected to be ratified. Key issues for determining origin for marine products are territory(territorial and international waters) related to the wholly produced criteria, Product Specific Rule(PSR), fish farming and catching in terms of production methods, and coastal state and flag state jurisdiction.
