Caring for Children of Multicultural Families in Christian Education

오늘 날 대한민국은 빠르게 다문화 사회로 변화하고 있다. 오랫동안 한 민족이라는 민족적 정체성을 자부심으로 삼아 왔던 문화 속에서 교회 역시 다문화 시대에 대한 준비 없이 사회적 변화를 맞이하고 있다. 다문화 다인종 사회로의 변화는 교회에도 자연스럽게 다인종 다문화 교회로 변화되어가고 있다. 따라서 급격히 늘어나는 외국인들과 이로 인해 발생하는 문화적 갈등, 충돌, 고리고 변화를 올바르게 이해하는 노력이 필요하다. 다인종 다문화 가정이 늘어나면서 가정에서의 문제와 사회적인 갈등의 문제 그리고 교육적인 문제가 발생하고 있다. 이러한 문제들에 대하여 전문적인 돌봄이 필요하다. 특별히 교회는 다문화 가정과 자녀들이 책임 있는 사회인으로 그리고 올바른 그리스도인으로 성장할 수 있도록 기독교 교육적 돌봄과 지원에 적극적인 참여를 하여야한다. 본 연구는 다문화 가정에 대한 시대적 상황과 변화를 수용하면서 다문화가정의 기독교 교육적 돌봄의 이론을 형성하고 새로운 방향을 찾는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 점에서 한국교회의 다문화화에 따른 과제를 해결하기 위하여 기독교교육적인 돌봄의 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 한국교회의 다문화화가 시작이라고 할 때 무엇보다 교육적인 측면의 연구와 전략이 필요하다. 이를 위하여 첫째 현재 우리나라의 다문화 가정의 현실을 살펴 볼 것이다. 둘째 빠르게 다문화 사회로 변화하면서 다문화 가정들이 가지고 있는 문제점들을 짚어볼 것이다. 끝으로 다문화 환경 속에 다문화가정과 자녀들에 대한 교회교육의 방향성과 기독교교육적인 돌봄에 대하여 논하게 될 것이다. 이러한 연구는 교회가 기독교 교육적 돌봄을 통하여 다문화가정들이 올바른 그리스도인으로 살아가게 하는데 큰 의미가 있을 것이다.

The multicultural society in the Republic of Korea is changing rapidly. Korea has had a long history of development as a culture that has been ethnically homogeneous and the national identity and pride has been based on that homogeneity. The Korean church has also developed within this traditional homogeneity and is not prepared for the challenges of multiculturalism that it is facing today. There is a need to come to an understanding of the culturally based incongruities and conflicts that come with the increase of the foreign population in our nation and the growing number of multicultural families. And as our society is changing to a multicultural and multiethnic one, naturally our churches are changing in the same way. With the increase of multicultural multiethnic families, there have been problems that have arisen within the families, societal conflicts and problems in education. There is a need for expertise to address and deal with these problems. And especially, churches must take on the responsibility and offer caring and support for the children of multicultural multiethnic families to ensure that they can grow properly in faith and become responsible citizens in our society. Therefor, this study aims to find a new way in most responding to the demands and changes for Caring for Children of Multicultural Families in Christian Education. For this Purpose, detailed alternatives for Multicultural Families in Christian Education are need. This research with explore Christian education methods in which the Korean church can take an active role in dealing with the problems and challenges of multiculturalism. The first priority for the Korean church is to examine the Christian educational issues of multiculturalism and strategies to deal with these issues. For this, there will be an examination of the current status of multicultural families in our nation. The problems that multicultural families are facing in our rapidly growing multicultural society will then be defined. In conclusion, there will be a discussion of the directions that the Korean church can take in the caring of and the Christian education of multicultural multiethnic families and their children.
