교회학교 교사상의 패러다임 전환

A Paradigm Shift of the Image of Church School Teachers: Focusing on Teachers’ Leadership Ability

본 연구는 지식전달중심의 전통적인 방식의 교사가 아닌 시대의 변화에 맞는 새로운 교회학교 교사상의 필요성을 강조하며 교사 리더십을 주제로 한 논의를 전개하였다. 교회학교 교사의 역할을 조직의 리더로 설정하고, 그 조직의 목표를 성공적으로 달성해 가는 리더로서의 역할을 잘 수행하는 교사의 리더십 기술역량에 논의의 초점을 맞추었다. 본 연구는 문헌자료 분석 중심으로 연구가 진행되었으며, 여러 자료를 참고하여 성공적인 리더십을 갖춘 교사가 되기 위해 갖추어야 할 핵심 기술역량으로 ‘반의 생성과 해체주기에 대한 이해능력’, ‘관계형성능력’, ‘목표수립능력’, ‘소통능력’, ‘동기부여능력’, ‘갈등해결능력’, 그리고 ‘신앙교육평가능력’ 등을 선택하였다. 교회는 교사들이 필요한 리더십 역량을 갖추도록 하기 위해 교사훈련 프로그램을 적극적으로 제공해야 한다. 교사들의 훈련방식도 갖추어야 할 리더십 역량의 내용과 형태에 따라 다양하게 준비되어야 한다. 주요 훈련방식으로는, 강의법, 무형식적 교수-학습 방법인 코칭, 그리고 다양한 구성주의적 교수-학습 방법, 즉 참여적 인간관계훈련, 팀워크훈련, 문제해결중심훈련, 의사소통훈련, 갈등해결훈련 등 전통적인 교사교육방식이 아닌 새로운 방식의 접근이 필요함을 제시하였다. 리더십 기술역량을 잘 갖춘 교회학교 교사는 침체되어가는 교회학교 현장에서 긍정적인 기여를 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 단순히 학생들에게 성경지식을 전달하는 교사가 아니라, 학생들과 함께 참여하고 행동하는 교사로 전환될 것이며, 수동적인 분위기의 교회학교를 능동적이고 적극적인 분위기로 전환하는데 기여할 것이다. 후속연구에서는 교사의 리더십 역량을 구체적으로 개발시켜나갈 수 있는 보다 더 구체적인 교육커리큘럼과 교육방법에 초점을 맞춘 연구를 진행할 것을 제안하였다.

The purpose of this article is to discuss the relevant skills and com-petencies that church school teachers require to successfully perform their roles. In the traditional model, church school teachers have served students as delivers of Biblical knowledge, but this image does not effectively work anymore. It is now required for church school education teachers to understand themselves as group leaders who lead an organization. According to study results of organizational leadership, leadership skills needed for church school teachers in-clude ‘understanding group development’, ‘building relationships’, ‘setting goals’, ‘communication’, ‘motivation’, ‘conflict management’, and ‘evaluation.’ The duty of the church resides in providing leader-ship education programs for church education teachers to develop their leadership skills. Church school teachers can then critically re-flect on their respective weaknesses concerning leadership skills, and decide to actively participate in educational programs that are pro-vided by the church. Teaching methodologies for leadership skills may vary according to the characteristics of each leadership skill. Those methodologies could be lecturing, active learning, problem based learning, mentoring, modeling, etc. Church school teachers who are equipped with leadership skills will positively contribute to-wards laying a solid foundation for church education. They will ac-tively work with students, and lead church education programs. A fol-lowing study may be possible by focusing on curriculum and method-ology of leadership skills.
