The purpose of this study is to find educational implications for renewing the education of the baptism critically with attention to Korean Presbyterian people’s epistemology based on inclusive, relational way of thinking. Christian theology cannot be separated from people’s own culture. That is why theology not only provides people with knowledge of God, the style of life, and the goal of life as God’s people, but also, culture is an implement by which we understand and express our faith. With this in mind, as deliberating on the baptism as one of the most important journey for God’s people to confirm, confess, and live out their faith as Christians for the kingdom of God, the author raises the following questions. “In the view of inclusive, relational way of thinking as a representative Asian epistemology, to what extent have the baptism formed and transformed based on the relationship with people’s way of thinking?” “If there are limits, what do educational implications need to be found and practiced?” This study (1) identifies the inclusive, relational way of thinking as a representative Asian epistemology, (2) investigates the characteristics of the baptism in the Presbyterian Church of Korea by researching its theological, historical influences and exploring baptismal materials, and (3) finds the educational implications for the building of the baptismal journey as a curriculum of faith formation based on the critical conversations between the Gospel and people’s way of thinking. I hope that this study will help Korean Presbyterian Christians understand and participate in the baptismal journey as a faith formation curriculum in terms of the baptism as both a cosmic union event in a threefold tense and a universal event personally, communally.
