의례이론과 의례적 인식론을 통해서 본 예전의 기독교교육적 의미

A Study on the Meaning of Liturgy for Christian Education - Based on the Ritual Theory and Ritual Epistemology

본 연구는 예전의 형성적 기능, 혹은 기독교교육적 기능을 탐구한 연구이다. 이를 위해 본고는 먼저 의례이론을 통해서 예전의 사회적 차원의 기능 및 공동체적 형성 기능을 살펴보았고, 더 나아가 예전이 그러한 형성기능을 나타낼 수 있는 근거로서 예전의 인식론적 특성들을 살펴보았다. 먼저 의례이론을 통해서 본고는 예전이 개인을 신앙공동체에 결속시키고 공동체와의 관계 속에서 새로운 정체성을 형성하게 할 뿐 만 아니라, 공동체의 통합과 정체성을 유지하는 기능, 그리고 더 나아가 신앙공동체 자체를 새롭게 변형하는 통로가 된다는 사실을 발견하였다. 예전적 인식론을 통해 예전은 몸의 인식, 감성적 인식 그리고 통전적 인식이 복합적으로 관련되는 장이라고 하는 사실을 발견하였는바, 예전은 “신체화된 인식(embodied mind)”를 담보함으로써 기독교적 가치와 태도를 내면화 하는 통로가 되며, 또한 감성적 의사소통과 상징체계로 기억과 학습을 효과적으로 일어나게 하며, 더 나아가 가치들을 행동으로 옮기도록 하는 자리가 된다는 것을 발견하였다. 무엇보다 예전은 통전적이고 전인적 인식으로 참여자들에게 실제세계와 기독교가 추구하는 바의 상징적 세계, 즉 ‘하나님 나라’와의 융합이 일어나게 하고 패러다임 전환이 일어나도록 하는 공간이 된다. 이 같은 사실로 부터 본고는 예배가 학교식 교육 형태를 극복하고자 하고, 통전적 형성을 추구하는 기독교교육에게 매우 중요하고 잠재적 가능성을 가진 기독교교육의 통로라고 하는 사실을 다시 한 번 확인하였다.

This study is about the formative function of liturgy. It is comprised of two parts, namely, the discussion about the social and community formational function of liturgy in terms of “ritual theory”, and the ritual epistemology on the basis of which the rituals play a significant role for the formation of the individuals and community. The discussion of ritual theory finds that the ritual has the function of binding the individuals to the faith community and helping them to form a new identity in the context of faith community. Rituals also help the faith community to maintain its identity and transforms the community itself as well. We learn from ritual epistemology that the ritual is a place related with wholistic knowing. The ritual could be the way through which we internalize the Christian value and attitude due to bodily experiences, and the place where the memory and learning can take place effectively, and also stimulate the participant to move things learned to behavior because of its emotional communication and symbolic pattern. It could be a space where the union between the real world and the symbolic world, the Kingdom of God which Christianity ultimately pursues, takes place. This study will conclude that liturgy is an important space containing boundless potential possibility for Christian education as it tries to overcome the schooling pattern of ongoing Christian education and seeks wholistic religious formation.
