Cyber-physical systems (CPSs) are considered as the main technology in smart factories. In a CPS environment, it is important to monitor the operational processes to detect abnormal conditions and respond to them via real-time comparisons between real-world and virtual models implementing identical real-world factories. The main purpose here is detecting abnormalities in an actual factory and finding quick responses through a simulation model reflecting these abnormalities. This study demonstrates modeling of the key components, such as process equipment and production results, placement of virtualized equipment in virtual factories, synchronization of data between actual and virtual facilities to design digital twins corresponding to the physical assets, and confirming their utilities.
