Translation’s considerable portion and important role in the Korean publishing industry has attracted significant attention, which has led to the continuous publication of translator training textbooks. This paper expects there will occur different kinds of translation problems between historically or culturally related languages such as Korean and Japanese, and relatively unrelated languages such as Korean and English. This paper selects Japanese-Korean translator training textbooks published over the last two decades (2000-2019) and examines the trends of the content by comparing the tables of contents. The result of the analysis is compared to that of analysis regarding English-Korean training textbooks conducted by Chin and Won (2021). While English-Korean textbooks deal more grammatical items, Japanese-Korean textbooks deal more lexical items, especially Sino-Korean/Sino-Japanese false friends or faux amis, which requires more attention and training from translators.
