노인의 손자녀 돌봄이 삶의 만족도와 우울에 미치는 영향

The Effect of Caring for Grandchildren on Life Satisfaction and Depression for Older Adults in South Korea : Children Supports and Health as Mediators

본 논문의 목적은 노인의 손자녀 돌봄이 노년기 삶에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 본 연구에서는 고령자연구패널조사(KLoSA) 7차년도 기본조사를 활용하여, 노인의 손자녀 돌봄이 삶의 만족도와 우울에 영향을 미칠 때, 자녀지지와 건강의 매개효과를 살펴보고자 한다. 통제변인을 통제한 후, 최대우도 추정법(maximum likelihood estimation)을 활용하여 연구모형을 검증한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 노인의 손자녀 돌봄은 삶의 만족도에 유의한 직접효과를 보였지만, 우울에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 노인의 손자녀 돌봄이 삶의 만족도와 우울에 영향을 미칠 때, 자녀지지는 유의한 매개효과를 보이지 않았다. 셋째, 노인의 손자녀 돌봄이 삶의 만족도와 우울에 영향을 미칠 때, 건강은 유의한 매개효과를 보였다. 본 연구결과는 노인의 손자녀 돌봄은 삶의 만족도에는 건강의 직, 간접효과를 보였지만, 우울에는 건강의 완전매개효과만 보였다. 따라서 본 연구결과는 노인의 손자녀 돌봄은 노년기 삶에 긍정적 영향과 부정적 영향을 모두 미친다는 것을 시사한다.

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of caring for grandchildren on elderly life. The research examines the mediating effects of children supports and health when caring for grandchildren on life satisfaction and depression among older adults in South Korea. The seventh basic survey materials of Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing (KLoSA) were used to study these effects. Structural equation modeling (SEM) using maximum likelihood estimation showed the following: first, the results indicated that caring for grandchildren directly affected life satisfaction, yet did not significantly affect depression among older adults; second, when caring for grandchildren influenced life satisfaction and depression among older adults, there were no indirect effects of children support; third, when caring for grandchildren influenced life satisfaction and depression among older adults, health was shown to be the significant mediated effect. The research implied that caring for grandchildren had the direct, indirect effect on life satisfaction and completely mediated effect on depression. The research suggests that caring for grandchildren has both positive and negative effects on the lives.
