20세기 중기 몽골 역사가들의 민족사서술 분석

A Study on Mid-20th Century Mongolian Historians’ National History Narratives

  • 2

This study examines the mid-20th century(from mid-1930s to late1950s) Mongolian historians’ national history narratives, narrative circumstances, and its characteristics. Although steeped in Marxism, the narratives of Mongolian historians entail their unique point of views regarding their own history. Therefore, the analysis on mid-20th century Mongol historians’ national history narratives contributes to diachronically understand the history of Mongol historical studies as well as the modern Mongol in depth. In light of this fact, the study actively employs other recent researches on the same topic to see how the Marxist historicism found its ground in Mongol, and how the mid-20th century Mongolian historians evaluated and narrated their national history. First, what process the Marxist history went through, as it was introduced to the Mongolian history narrative, is examined, centering on “The Birth and Development of the Mongolian National Revolution” published in 1934. Then, focusing on the analysis on the emergence of new-generation historians in the 1940s and their research results, the expansion of the Marxist history is studied. Lastly, based on “The History of the Mongolian People’s Republic”(the first edition), the process and the entrenchment of the Marxist history in the 1950s Mongol historical narratives are explored.
