Some mongolian legends of the land related to the Hogno Han Mountain and Uvgun temple

The folklorist professor R.Chultemsuren wrote in the paper about the historic legends of Mongolian oral literature. He made some research related to the Hogno han Mountain ( Ho’gno han uuliin tuhai domog), (Ho’gno han uul) (O’vgon hiidiin tuhai huuch yaria) located in the middle of Tuw, Bulgan, Uvurhangai provinces of Mongolia. People call this beutiful Hogno mountain as (Ho’gno han uul), (Ho’gno Tarniin uul), (Han uul) and now it is the tourist’s favourite place which is in the South of Elsen Tasarhai, 200 km from the capital Ulaanbaatar. In the present we can find many tourist camps. Ovgon hiid is the old Buddhist temple located in the mountain which was destroyed and the all the monks of the temple were killed by the troops of Gandan Boshigt han. The temple was rebuilt later but another time the temple was destroyed totally during the communist regime ind 1937 year. Consequently the old monks were sent to the prison of Arhangai province, young ones were sent to the army and the Buddha images and statues the monks kept were taken over by the troops. Fortunately after 1990 the buddhists as C. Davaa rebuilt the temple again. The temple itself tells us how the Red Hat Buddhism was spreaded, declined and respreaded three times. In the paper R.Chultemsuren collected many legends about Hogno Tarna Mountain and Uvgun temple and made comparative research of them. There is one interesting legend how one monk killed the Landarma king (Lan dar ma, Landaram) who destroyed the Buddhism in the land of Tibet and that monk run away from Tibet with the goods belonged to Landarma king, came to Hogno han Mountain of Mongolia and established the temples there. The paper is innovative by the study on the new source texts of legend, reminiscence, eulogy song of the Hogno han mountain, other near by rivers, mountains and some historic events.
