The Effect of Meaning of Spouse to Quality of Marital Relation and Happiness

본 연구에서는 한국의 부부관계를 심층적으로 살펴보기 위해 배우자의 의미를 측정하는 도구를 개발하고, 배우자의 의미가 연령과 성별에 따라 차이가 있는지, 배우자의 의미가 부부관계의 질과 행복에는 어떤 영향을 미치는지 확인하고자 하였다. 사전 연구에서는 231명을 대상으로 배우자의 의미를 측정하는 예비 문항을 개발하였다. 연구 1에서는 사전 연구에서 개발한 문항을 이용해 성인 214명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 탐색적 요인 분석과 확인적 요인 분석의 결과를 바탕으로, 배우자의 부정적 의미와 긍정적 의미의 2개 하위요인으로 구성된 배우자의 의미 척도를 개발하였다. 연구 2에서는 성인 초기, 중년기, 노년기 각 100명씩 총300명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연령에 따라 배우자의 의미의 차이가 있는지 MANOVA를 실시한 결과, 연령에 따른 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 성별에 따라 배우자의 의미의 차이가 있는지 살핀 결과, 남편의 배우자의 긍정적 의미가 더 높았고, 여성의 부정적 배우자의 의미가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 배우자의 의미가 부부관계의 질과 행복에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과, 배우자의 긍정적 의미는 결혼만족도를 높이고 부정적 의미는 낮추는 효과를 보였다. 배우자의 긍정적 의미는 주관적 행복감을 높이고, 부정적 의미는 낮추는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 배우자의 부정적 의미는 심리적 안녕감을 감소시켰지만, 긍정적 의미에는 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 본 연구에서는 한국인의 부부관계를 심도 있게 연구할 수 있는 배우자의 의미 척도를 개발하고, 배우자의 의미의 효과를 규명했다는 의의가 있다.

The purpose of this research were to develop the scale that masure to meaning of spouse, to identify the difference of meaning of spouse in age and sex, and effects of meaning of spouse to quality of marital relation and happiness. The items of scale were developed by pilot study which was surveyed in 231 married adults. By study 1, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were examined in which participants were 214 subjects to identify contents and structure of meanings of spouse. The results of study 1 showed that meanings of spouse were constrcted by 2 subfactors which were positive meanings of spouse and negative meanings of spouse. The aim of study 2 was to identify the differences in age and sex, and impact of positive and negative meanings of spouse on quality of marital relation and happiness in 300 subjects. The results show no difference in meaning of spoouse in young adults, middle adults, and elders. And husband’s positive meaning of spouse was higher and also wife’s negative meaning of spouse was higher than others. And positive meaning of spouse affected satisfaction of relationships, subjective happiness, and psychological wellbeing positively. But negative meaning of spouse affected satisfaction of relationships, subjective happiness negatively. The results support that meaning of spouse was important factor that influence quality of marital relation and happiness.
