This paper investigates a Chinese disguised pseudogapping construction. Specifically, first, the pseudogapping construction does not exist in Chinese. The Chinese disguised pseudogapping construction belongs to a Chinese style gapping construction. Second, the construction is formed through a focus movement cum-deletion mechanism. Third, what undergoes deletion in the construction is TP. Fourth, multiple remnants in the Chinese style gapping construction are disallowed. The reason that the latter is not acceptable is because a sentence reader cannot comprehend a complex ellipsis clause involving three syntactic A’ movement operations. Finally, shi in the Chinese style gapping construction has very various properties.
