The Relation between οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι and ὄχλος in John 6:1-7:52

본 연구는 요한복음 6:1-7:52의 οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι와 ὄχλος사이의 관계에대해 연구한다. 학자들은 본문에서 이 두 용어가 같은 그룹을 가리키는지 아니면 다른 두 그룹을 가리키는지에 관해 논쟁한다. 본 연구는이 논쟁에 일정 부분 공헌한다. 이 본문에 대한 필자의 내러티브적언어적 분석에 기초하여 필자는 본문에서 οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι는 동일한 의미를 유지하며 이 두 용어는 서로 분명하게 구별되어야 함을 제안한다. 본 연구에서 파생되는 결과는 요한복음 내 유대인들의 정체이다. 요한복음 6:1-7:52의 οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι에 대한 관찰에 근거하여 필자는 이 용어가 일반 유대인 백성들(무리)에 비하여 토라에 대한 우월한 지식과열정을 소유한 특정한 그룹을 가리킨다고 제안한다.

This article examines the relation between οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι and ὄχλος in John 6:1-7:52. The debate is whether these two terms refer to the same group or two different groups in the passage. This article makes a contribution to the debate. Based on my narratological and linguistic analysis on this passage, I suggest that οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι is used consistently in the passage and that these two terms should be sharply distinguished each other. A spin-off result of the present study is the identity of the Johannine Jews. Based on my observations on οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι in 6:1-7:52, I also propose that this term refers to a specific group who possessed a superior knowledge about the Torah and zeal for it compared to common Jewish people (the crowd).
