초등도덕과와 타 교과의 연계를 통한 인성교육 방법 연구

Study on Educational Methods of Building Character through Moral Subject Education in Connection with Other Subjects of Elementary School

교과를 연계하여 인성 교육을 한다는 것과 교과를 통합하여 인성교육을 한다는 것은 그 양상에서 현격한 차이가 있다. 교과를 연계하여 인성 교육을 한다는 것은 도덕과에 무게중심을두고 다른 교과와의 협력을 도모한다는 것이고, 교과를 통합하여 인성 교육을 한다는 것은 전교과를 가르치는 과정에서 인성 교육이 가능하도록 한다는 것이다. 이는 인성을 교육의 목적으로 하는 점에서는 유사한 의미라고 볼 수 있으나, 인성을 직접 겨냥하여 교육을 하는지 아니면각 교과 교육의 실제적인 목적을 먼저 달성하는 과정에서 인성을 교육하는 것인지에 대한 차이가 있다. 전자의 경우에는 인성이 교과 교육을 받은 사람이 가져야할 당연한 목적이 되는 것인데 반해, 후자의 경우는 인성이 생활에 필요한 기술 교육보다 후순위에서 강조되는 결과를 초래한다. 이런 경우 교과 교육은 수단의 의미 이상을 추구하기 어렵게 되고, 이는 교과 교육의 근간이 흔들리게 되는 위험을 내포한다. 본 연구에서는 교과 통합을 통한 인성 교육은 그 자체의모순점으로 인해 배제하고 도덕과가 중심이 되어 인성교육을 하는 교과연계의 관점에서 한 가지 방법을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 진행하였다.

There is a marked difference in complexion between an approach to character-buildingeducation in link with other subjects and another approach that which integrates the subjectstogether. Character-building education in connection with other subjects is about seekingcooperation with the other subjects while still putting more weight on ethical education. Character-building education that integrates the subjects is about enabling ethical educationthroughout the whole course of teaching the subjects. They both seem to mean the samething in respect to the fact that they both have character-building as their objective. Howeverthere is a difference between the two in that whether it s direct and foremost target is tobuild character or whether character-building is a secondary accomplishment made during thecourse of initially achieving the actual objectives for each subject curriculum. In the former case, building character becomes a natural purpose of education whereas inthe latter case, character-building is not as emphasized as actual skills needed in life, thusending up subordinated to other objectives. In such circumstances, subject education becomesstuck, not being able to pursue further beyond becoming the means, and this may bring thedanger of shaking the basis of the whole subject education. This research study has beencarried out with the purpose of suggesting a method with the perspective of character-buildingeducation in connection with other subjects centering mainly on ethics, excluding thecharacter-building education through subject integration due to its own contradiction.
