재적응형 대안교육 고등학교의 과학실험수업과 학생들의 과학에 대한 태도 분석

Comparative Analysis of Science Laboratory Class and Students Science Attitudes in Specialized High School for Alternative Education and General High School

본 연구에서는 재적응형 대안교육 고등학교인 D고등학교와 일반계 고등학교인 Y고등학교의 과학과 교육과정 분석, 과학실험수업 분석, 과학/과학실험에 대한 학생 특성을 비교하였다. 이를 위하여, 두 학교에서 이루어지는 과학 수업을 관찰ㆍ분석하고, 수업을 담당한 교사와 수업에 참여한 학생들과 면담을 실시하였다. 그리고 두 학교 학생들을 대상으로 과학 및 과학실험활동에 대한 태도를 분석하였다. 두 학교의 과학실험수업을 분석한 결과, D고등학교에서는 Y고등학교보다 수업시 학생들의 의견에 좀 더 수용적인 반면, 실험활동의 전 단계를 교사 주도로 이끌어가는 측면에서 일반학교 보다 교사의존적인 수업분위기를 나타냈다. 다음으로 과학에 대한 태도를 분석한 결과, 살아가면서 과학이 필요하다고 생각하는 정도와 과학을 신뢰하는 정도가 Y고등학교가 D고등학교보다 좀 더 높게 나타났다. 또한 과학실험활동에 대한 태도 분석 결과, 두 학교 학생들 모두 과학실험과 같은 탐구활동을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 재적응형 대안교육 고등학교 교사와 학생들의 요구에 부합하는 과학교육 프로그램을 개발하는데 의미있는 시사점을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

This research was conducted to observe science classes and to determine students attitudes as an examination of science education in Specialized High School for Alternative Education and in General High School. Three science classes (one class for Alternative School, two classes for General School) were chosen for science laboratory class observations. A 5-point Likert scale examination on students science attitudes was developed based on Lee (1998). The science laboratory class observations reveal that two schools had unique features. This was especially evident in the way teacher introduced basic inquiry skills (observation, classification, measurement) in classroom experiments in Specialized High School for Alternative Education. Examination of student attitudes indicated that students in both schools prefer classes oriented toward experimentation rather than lectures. The results of this analysis provide a basic reference in improving science education in Specialized High School for Alternative Education.
