한국과 핀란드의 고등학교 수학 교과서 비교 연구

A Study on the Content Analytic Comparison of Korean and Finnish High School Math Textbooks

본 연구에서는 한국과 핀란드의 고등학교 수학 교과서 전반에 걸쳐 학습내용 요소 및 주요 개념을 설명하는 방법에 차이가 있는지를 중심으로 비교·분석하였다. 학습내용 요소를 대수, 해석, 기하, 확률과 통계 영역으로 구분하여 비교하고 영역별 공통 단원 중에서 주요 개념의 설명 방법이 다른 것을 중심으로 비교·분석하여 시사점을 얻고자 하였다. 그 결과 개념을 소개한 후 체계적이고 형식적인 수학적 지식의 측면을 강조하여 형식화, 공식화하는 경향이 있는 한국과 달리 핀란드의 경우 기본적인 개념 설명과 그 개념에 따른 대표적인 예제 1~2 문제만 풀고 많은 문제를 연습문제로 남기는 등 한국에 비해 양적으로 적고 난이도가 낮은 편이며 덜 형식적이고 보다 직관적임을 알 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the differences in the contents as well as the methods of explanations of learning materials in Korean and Finnish math textbooks for high school students. We classify contents of textbooks into 4 domains - algebra, analysis, geometry, and probability/statistics. Our research indicates that they prefer formal and rigorous explanations with detailed descriptions in Korea. On the other hand, Finnish textbooks tends to deal with materials so that they can be understood more flexibly and intuitively. Moreover, they usually contain only fundamental and essential knowledges and use as few math formulas as possible in Finland.
