An Analysis of Realities and Needs of Counseling for Gifted Children in Elementary School

본 연구의 목적은 학생, 학부모, 교사를 대상으로 영재상담의 전반적인 상담 실태를 파악하고, 영재상담에 관한 인식 및 요구를 분석하여 영재상담의 활성화를 위한 기초자료를 제공하는데 있다. 설문은 학생, 학부모, 교사에게 상담실태, 상담에 관한 인식과 요구, 그리고 영재의 영역별 특성에 따른 상담요구를 묻는 질문들로 구성하였다. 연구결과, 초등 영재의 상담은 일반 초등학생을 대상으로 상담을 할 때와는 다른 차별화된 상담이 필요하며 특히, 영재상담을 위해 가장 우선적으로 필요한 것은 영재들에게 자신의 영재성에 대해 이해하도록 돕는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 이러한 영재성에 대한 이해를 바탕으로 영재의 인지적·정의적 특성들을 인식하도록 하여 이를 긍정적으로 발전시킬 수 있도록 예방적이고 발달적인 상담이 필요한 것으로 조사되었다.

This study is to examine the overall reality of counselling for gifted children through the survey of students, parents and teachers, to measure their awareness and needs for counselling of gifted children and to provide the basic data for the promotion of counselling for gifted children. The questionnaire was developed to measure the reality of counselling for gifted children, the awareness and needs for counselling of gifted children and needs for counselling under the feature of gifted children by dividing into three categories. As a result, the following conclusions can be drawn. Counselling for gifted elementary students needs to be differentiated from that for ordinary elementary students. Most of all, the preventive and developing counselling should be given so that students may understand their gifts by having awareness of their cognitive and definitive features as well as develop their abilities affirmatively.
